impact verification guidelines:
At The Boycott Spot, our Impact Standards exist to protect trust — both for our partner brands and for the conscious consumers we serve. Today’s consumers increasingly seek alignment between their values and their spending. Our verification framework helps ensure that when individuals choose to support a business through our platform, they can do so with confidence.
Our Impact Levels reflect varying degrees of documentation and verification, not varying degrees of worth. Each level represents meaningful engagement in giving back — with transparency serving as the foundation of credibility. These guidelines outline what documentation may be requested for each level.
Across our platform, a three-icon system visually signifies each business’s level of verification within our Impact Standards framework.
Level 1: Self-reported impact
Businesses at this level have publicly stated impact commitments or reported giving practices. Formal documentation is not submitted at this level.
This designation reflects transparency through brand-reported impact statements.
Documentation required: None.
Examples of public-facing statements may include:
A website page outlining percentage-based giving
A public pledge to donate a portion of revenue or profits
Brand communications describing charitable commitments
Level 1 recognizes meaningful intent and public accountability without formal verification submission.
Level 2: verified impact
Businesses at this level provide documentation confirming past or current giving activity.
This designation reflects impact that has been supported through submitted documentation and reviewed internally.
Acceptable documentation examples may include:
Donation summaries or year-end giving overviews
Nonprofit acknowledgment letters
Screenshots of giving dashboards
Public impact reports
Confirmation of financial contributions to charitable partners
Documentation is reviewed internally and is not published elsewhere.
Level 3: ongoing impact
Businesses at this level provide documentation demonstrating structured, recurring, or systemized impact commitments. This designation reflects ongoing and embedded impact practices beyond one-time contributions.
Acceptable documentation examples may include:
Recurring donation confirmations
Long-term nonprofit partnership agreements
Certification documentation (e.g., B Corp, 1% for the Planet, Fair Trade, etc.)
Structured annual impact reports
Formal impact policy documentation
Level 3 signifies sustained and integrated impact commitments supported by documentation. Documentation is reviewed internally and is not published elsewhere.
